Good afternoon!
I have some amazing news! Our Patreon profile is ready! I was working on it for quite a long time and finally it is ready to be shared with the world. We dream of re-publishing Friends in the garden book so the donations will help us to make our dream come true.
You can download and print an illustration of your favorite fruit or vegetable with its’ “friends” (or “plant guild”) from the book Friends in the garden after you make a donation. The illustrations from the book can be used in kindergardens, schools, parent cooperatives or in your own home in order to teach your children how to plant vegetables and fruits according to their plant guilds. The veggies and fruits that you are going to find in the link and in the book are: peach, plum, pear, cherry, apple, apricot, grapes, potato, pumpkin, beetroot, strawberry, carrot, brocolli, cucumber, tomato and beans. The illustrations from the book are appropriate for adults as well since it explains in a simple way how to combine our favorite plants in the right way in order to get the best result.

I will share with you a wonderful video with a simple explanation of the plant guilds. The video used apple tree as an example.
Plant guilds are based on the idea that if we create the right combination of plants, trees, animals, insects or other components that work together we will help them to be healthier, therefore more productive. I love how permaculture teaches us to observe nature and implement the knowledge from there in our own gardens. I was quite impressed by the fact that the way we combine plants in the garden usually is similar to the way we combine plants in a recipe. For example tomatoes should be planted with basil in order to protect it from insects such as flies and hornworms and as we know tomato with basil is the best combination for a salad. Nature is so fascinating! The more I learn about it the more impressed and grateful I am that I live in a country where I can experience Nature in all four seasons and with such rich biodiversity.
The week was interesting and satisfying. I love learning practical skills such as crowdfunding through a Patreon profile. It was hard but it was totally worth it. The book is made with so much love and effort and I am sure that it would be helpful to so many gardeners when we re-publish it. I personally learned a lot from it so I am sure that other people will find it useful as well. Today Maria will leave for a vacation until the end of the month. I can’t wait for her to come back and tell me about her experience. I hope that she will have a great time! Wish you all a fun and unforgettable summer!
Thank you for reading!
See you next week,
Polin
