Game-test with the cards for the first time

Hello dear ones,

I am back after a week of being on a sick leave. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule our workshop with the children from the school “Pateki” due to my health conditions, but fingers crossed it will be done next week.

This week I did the first testing of the cards with the Bill Mollison’s Permaculture principles with a group of people. There was a gathering of the Bulgarian “No Till” association members in the natural estate “Blagodat”. I attended this event and I used the opportunity to do a “game-test”. I wrote the principles and the quotes for them that we used on the cards, and everyone chose one. The assignment was to draw what visually comes to them, when they first read the principle they selected. The goal was to compare their drawings with the visual part of the cards, in order to see if they match. I would say that the success was 50%. I notice few challenges that people had with the assignment. Firstly, people were worried about their drawing skills, they were also worried about making a mistake and not getting it right. Later on, we had a discussion on why they draw what they draw.

I also continued with reading Bill Mollison’s book “Permaculture: a designer’s manual” and making teaching materials. The subject of the chapter I am working with this week and the upcoming week is water and the importance of its storage in the design and in general. Hopefully next week the materials will be ready and I can share them here.

This week we have new fellow volunteer in our project. Her name is Poli. We got to meet her in a park close to our office. I am really looking forward for this colaboration. She had her first on arrival week. Welcome Poli!

Love,

Marija
