Hello dear ones,
I hope you had a lovely Christmas holiday, spent with the warmth of the people you love and delicious food. I am very grateful I had this kind of holiday. This week was a short work week, with only two working days.
I continued with Chapter 3 of Bill Mollison’s book: “Permaculture – a designer manual”. This chapter is dedicated to the strategies, methods and approaches when making a permaculture design. It resonates with me that having a structure and steps to follow is a very important basis when we make a design. Even though as Mollison says when we step on the site everything is possible and this is where the work starts, and whatever plan we have made may turn out not workable in the way we thought it would be. But having a structure and strategy is not limiting in any way, it actually gives us more options and ways out if a problem arises.
I was inspired to make an example of analysis of the inputs and outputs of a component in the garden. I am very fortunate that my project coordinator, Mihaela, has been a student of Bill Mollison. It is one thing to read his book and totally another one to have the help of someone that knows him in person and has studied with him. She shared with me the example with the tree while we were working on the cards for the principles, so I decided to make it into a scheme. My coordinator also referred me to the channel of Andrew Millison on YouTube. There I found a link to an online free overview of a PDC course on made by the Oregon State University Ecampus and Andrew Millison. I really like the videos, they are very concrete, creatively made and practical. Below I will post the first video of the playlist.
I wish you all have a wonderful New Year’s Eve celebration and that the new year will open our hearts to be more loving and compassionate.
Until next year <3
Love,
Marija
