Hello dear ones,
This week we continued with the PDC sessions and the subject was themes and concepts. I passed this as a chapter in Bill Mollison’s book “Permaculture: a designer’s manual”, and it had very good impact on my because it made me knowledge on the subject more full and more clear. It connected many dots, just like the connections between the elements and their functions in the designing process. I can see the difference between just reading the book and actually having someone explaining, the two complement each other.
I also worked on my video for the instant garden. The raised bed is finished, and I planted strawberries in it. Now I am just missing the last part of the video, the end result – grown strawberries. I feel like it needs this part in order to show the full cycle. I really used everything I had in my nearest environment, counting the one extra part – I put a fence around the raised bed. I used a bark of a tree, that would otherwise go to the compost. What can I do… I like my raised beds with fences.
I worked with Canva for the first time for something different from a collage. The collages I used for this blog are usually made on Canva, but this time I was making a poster for the workshop we will do in the village Smolichano, later next month in the children’s center “Live with love”. I am actually realizing that this was the first poster I have worked on in my life. I still don’t have the final look, but it was an interesting experience for me.
We also did a trip to Velingrad with our project team. There we met with a lovely lady that introduced herself as Grandma Radka. Over 40 years ago she made her garden and used tires for fences, on her raised bed and on her herb/flower spiral. I was super amazed by this women. She told us that even when she was a kid they used to compost. They used to dig a big hole in the earth and throw all kinds of organic materials, then bury it once it is almost full and let it rest for 2 years until they start using it.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Love,
Marija
