Continuation of “Understanding the patterns”

Hello dear ones,

Together with our future fellow volunteer Aleks, we went to visit a LAND candidate center, the natural estate “Blagodat”. There is a possibility that this place will be where the next year’s solidarity project will happen. We had a tour around the estate and also around the village. Besides looking through the possibilities of what the project would be about, we had the chance to get to know each other better. I also shared with her my experience with working on the project so far, as well as answered some questions she had.

We continued with the PDC. This week’s subject was continuation of the theme “Understanding of the Patterns”. It was such an interesting subject. As I have probably mentioned before I have a BA in Anthropology and Ethnology and in this week’s sessions there were a lot of examples of the way of living of Indigenous people. It is magnificent how people in the past lived their lives in harmony with nature, and nature being their greatest teacher. With no technological equipment they managed to gain knowledge about the world they lived in, in depth and with such respect that we should all be writing down notes nowadays. There was also an explanation about the herb spiral garden. This was very informative for me personally, because lately I have been thinking about implementing this type of permaculture element in my own personal garden. For example, I was thinking of a large spiral garden where I can have more production that I will later use for floral water, but as the lector explained this type of garden is not suitable for a large production. It is a kitchen garden, where you can have fresh herbs, and it should be as big as the reach of the hand. It inspired me to do a design of my own herb spiral garden. Hopefully next week I will have it ready, so I can share it here.

I wish you all the loveliest weekend!

Love,

Marija
