Hello dear ones,
The wheel of spring starts to turn, and so do the dynamics of our project. Not that it was steady until now, but most of the work that has been done so far it was inside and behind closed doors. Now at the end of February we are taking things more outside and with other people. Many new events are being arranged and rearranged. We have a schedule for several workshops, sessions and demonstrations planned in the upcoming month, as well as the six months ahead. It is exciting and a little bit overwhelming, but I am really looking forward to spreading the knowledge and materials that were made in the last few months with the world. This week we had few meetings and conversations with few groups that we will collaborate in this process. It is a very colorful crowd from all ages. It is interesting to think in the direction of which approach is the best for which group, but with the help of my coordinator, things go very smooth. We will start with the activities in the upcoming week with the youngest ones, but i will write about that more in my next blog.
Except for the meetings and organization, I have also made some materials about the instant garden this week. Don’t judge me, but I haven’t heard about it before, and it was very interesting for me to learn about this method and also very practical. Something that I will surely do in my own garden. The method is very simple and quick. The “recipe” for it has only three ingredients: manure and/or compost, cardboard and/or paper, and mulch. I made a visual guide of how is it done, step by step, you can see it in the picture bellow:
If you are more of a video person, I am sharing a link of Geoff Lawton’s example.
I also found some information and videos of people putting the three ingredients in a different order, so if you feel for experimenting, there are options. I am planing to make a video of my own example in my garden, record its progress and share it here.
We visited our fellow members of the Green School Village from the Plovdiv area, Mitko and Varvara. We went there to see the progress of their projects. They are also part of the team going to PDC in Greece this spring. While we were there we also decided to catch up with our former fellow volunteers from the previous project, Niki and Vlad. It was very nice to meet with them and see where life has taken us.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend. To the Bulgarian readers:ЧЕСТИТА БАБА МАРТА!
Love,
Marija
