My experience during the “Leader in Me” training in Veles farm in Slovenia

Hi everyone, I’m Rado. In this post I will share the story of my participation in the “Leader in me” training course. It was organized in the beautiful rural area of east Slovenia in a small farm built with natural materials.

The sun rises early in the Veles farm and the morning activities started at six thirty in the morning. On the first day of the “Leader in me” youth training the focus was on introducing the participants from all over Europe to each other and to form work groups that would support the learning and living process around the farm. During the day a lot of sessions were held where deep listening, empathy and ways of expressions was trained.

On the second day the learning process continued with the different leadership models being introduced in theory and further exercised in a playful way through completing tasks and solving problems. Later during the day the group spend time in silence in nature to focus on their inner voice.

During the next days the group explored the fundamentals of sustainable and regenerative leadership like communication, motivation, self-awareness and responsibility. In a practical way, on the field next to the river, the art of the leader and follower was explored and practiced.

The second part of the training course focused on individual workshops prepared by the participants. It was a big challenge to choose an important subject regrading leadership and to present the subject to the group in a meaningful and engaging way.

I am very thankful to the Veles farm team for organising such an intense course full of interesting workshops and providing such tasty vegetarian food and comfortable accommodation. Many thanks to Green School Village as well, for the chance to participate on this exchange and learn better ways of communication and taking responsibility about our actions.
