Hi friends, it’s Alex again! I’m here to share more about my first week of volunteering after getting back from the Leader in Me training course at Kmetija Veles in Slovenia. If you’re curious about my time there, you can also check out my blog post from last week where I tell you all about it. But now we’re here to talk about something more recent — my volunteering adventure at GSV!
Right as I came back, the volunteer duties came calling again and I was more than excited to meet Misha and Philip in the office first thing Monday. Not only did I bring Misha the homemade strawberry jam I brought from Slovenia as a gift from Petra, our host at Kmetija Veles, but I brought a lot of stories and new knowledge I was looking forward to sharing. After that, we did some more work — planning for the week ahead, getting things in order for the upcoming LAND training and working on the website with Philip. After arranging a meeting for the website repairs, we also did something pretty cool. We made a form where all the participants coming to the LAND training in September can fill out their details, needs and questions, while also getting more information on the itinerary and location. I also got some time to help out Philip with the header copy of the new Green School Village communication software, which we’re currently testing. On the photo below you can see just how focused I look when I’m working, which is a bit funny knowing that I’m usually a goof.
After this was set and done, I continued the week by translating some of the materials for the upcoming LAND training, which includes the iACT workbook and the Bibliography & Terminology document from English to Bulgarian. I also worked on a new logo for it, which we got to finalise this week. The key thing was to make it look as much as possible like the original English Logo and it was fun to attempt to do so. I brushed up on my Canva skills and put my designer hat on to be able to remake it as closely as possible without losing the original touch and earthiness.
But more about it next week!
For now, I wish you a peaceful weekend and hope to see you soon 🙂
See you soon,
Alex
