In the end of my project I had the chance to represent the organization at Greenburg Fest – a youth festival in Burgas that combines ecology, culture, and civic activism. The event took place at the beautiful park Mineralni Bani in the Vetrеn neighborhood, turning the whole area into a vibrant hub of sustainability, creativity, and music.
I was there to represent my organisation with a stand shared with the International Youth Center in Burgas, which turned out to be a fantastic experience. Their team is inspiring, and it’s really worth checking out their program – as well as those of other international youth centers across Bulgaria. They provide amazing opportunities for young people, from training and volunteering to cultural exchanges.
Around us were some of the most active green organizations in Bulgaria: Greenpeace, Burgas Open Space, PanGea (the WWF youth wing), the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, BirdLife/BSPB, and many more. The expo zone was buzzing with ideas, conversations, and creative activities – each stand showcasing a different approach to sustainability, from environmental education to circular economy and green entrepreneurship. It felt like a meeting point for like-minded activists and people driven by causes that truly matter.
My role was to present my organization’s work, capture the energy of the festival in photos and videos, and most importantly – connect. And connect we did. The atmosphere was open, curious, and supportive. I met new friends, built valuable connections, and exchanged ideas that will hopefully grow into future collaborations. I experimented in content creation and basic video making. I created a short reel capturing my favourite moments of the event which you can check out below. Also because I experimented more with video for this event instead of capturing the experience in still photos here is a link to other videos from the festival.
As the day went on, the musical program brought even more energy to the park. The stage hosted both rising young bands and established names. I was especially proud to see one of the local rock/metal bands who recently won third place at Wacken Open Air in Germany – the biggest metal festival in Europe! To see Bulgarian teenagers and twenty-somethings making waves internationally gave everyone in the crowd goosebumps. And of course, the headliner was Cool Den, a beloved Bulgarian band that never fails to get people singing along.
What I love about Greenburg Fest is that it’s about celebrating nature, culture, and community while giving space to young people to speak up and take action. It’s about meeting people who care, discovering new ideas, and realizing that together we can shape a greener, more creative future.
If you’re passionate about nature, sustainability, or just curious to explore the cultural heartbeat of Burgas, I highly recommend visiting Greenburg Fest next year. And if you happen to be at the southern Black Sea coast in June, definitely make the trip – you’ll leave inspired, connected, and with music still echoing in your head. 🌍💚
And, as this is the end of our project, I will inlcude the feedback and farewell European Solidarity Corps videos of our Bulgarian volunteers team, that are already members of the organization after the end of their project.
